Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism, Art and Culture Minister Diya Kumari on Thursday, 2 July chaired a high-level review meeting of the Tourism, Art and Culture Department at Paryatan Bhawan, Jaipur, focusing on preparations for the city's 300th foundation anniversary and the broader goal of positioning Rajasthan as a premier international tourism destination.
Jaipur Tricentennial as a Global Branding Moment
Reviewing the tricentennial preparations, Diya Kumari said the city's 300th foundation anniversary presents a rare opportunity to strengthen Jaipur's heritage branding on the world stage. She noted that by weaving together the city's architectural legacy with Rajasthan's traditions of valour, faith, heritage tourism, art, and culture, the state can be elevated into a globally recognised destination. She issued directions to officials to ensure the celebrations are planned and executed effectively.
Key Infrastructure and Cultural Projects Reviewed
The Deputy Chief Minister reviewed proposals to develop Jawahar Kala Kendra and Shilpgram into world-class centres for art and culture. Discussions also covered matters related to Ravindra Manch. Among the ongoing tourism and infrastructure initiatives assessed were the development of the Tanot Mata Temple complex in coordination with the Border Security Force (BSF), the Pushkar Development Project, media buying and promotional campaigns, and the Amer Light and Sound Show.
Digital Outreach and Circuit Development
Officials briefed Diya Kumari on the progress of the department's dedicated tourism app, the Maharana Pratap Circuit, international promotion through the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), and the proposed museum in Jaipur's Walled City. The meeting also took stock of the shooting schedule for the Tourism Department's creative campaigns, renovation of the Albert Hall Museum, implementation of the Amer Master Plan, and progress on the Jhunjhunu War Museum.
Timelines and Accountability
The meeting was attended by Government Secretary Shuchi Tyagi, Tourism Commissioner Rukmani Riar, and other senior departmental officials. Diya Kumari directed all officials to ensure that tourism and cultural projects are completed within stipulated timelines so they contribute meaningfully to strengthening Rajasthan's tourism infrastructure and international appeal. This comes amid growing competition among Indian states to attract foreign tourists, with Rajasthan historically among the top three destinations by inbound visitor numbers.
