New Delhi, Oct 27 (NationPress) Yashasvi Jaiswal, the Indian opener, is poised to make his return to domestic cricket in the forthcoming round of the 2025–26 Ranji Trophy, which kicks off on November 1. Mumbai will take on Rajasthan in an Elite Group D match in Jaipur.
Fresh from India's ODI tour of Australia, Jaiswal is keen to refine his skills in preparation for the upcoming home Test series against South Africa, set to commence on November 14 in Kolkata. His involvement is in line with the BCCI's directive that contracted players participate in domestic matches whenever possible.
Jaiswal has communicated his availability to Sanjay Patil, the chairman of selectors for Mumbai. The selection panel is expected to finalize the squad for the clash with Rajasthan after the current round concludes on Tuesday.
If he takes the field, it will be Jaiswal's first match for Mumbai since he confirmed his allegiance to the team in May, after briefly considering a move to Goa. His last appearance for the team was during a group match against Jammu & Kashmir at the BKC grounds — the same game in which Rohit Sharma returned to Mumbai following a disappointing tour of Australia. Jaiswal's last domestic outing was in August, where he played for West Zone in the Duleep Trophy held in Bengaluru.
Mumbai began their Ranji Trophy campaign with a win over Jammu & Kashmir but were held up by rain in their home game against Chhattisgarh, which ended without a clear result.
