Srinagar, April 9 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, presented appointment orders to 90 individuals who are the next of kin of deceased government employees as part of the Rehabilitation Assistance Scheme (RAS) on Thursday.

According to officials, Chief Minister Abdullah delivered these orders under SRO-43/RAS to 90 candidates specifically from the Kashmir division.

Present at the event were Agriculture Minister Javed Dar, Transport Minister Satish Sharma, and Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Sogami, alongside senior officials.

Chief Minister Abdullah reaffirmed his dedication to supporting the families of employees who lost their lives while in service, stating that these appointments are intended to provide stability and reassurance during challenging periods.

During his speech, Chief Minister Abdullah remarked, "The previous SRO-43 compassionate appointment scheme has been integrated with its successor, the Rehabilitation Assistance Scheme (RAS), to facilitate these appointments.

“Today, we have made a total of 90 compassionate appointments across all 10 districts in the Kashmir province. This initiative has been in progress, and since the establishment of our government, we have intensified our efforts in this regard, as it is our responsibility towards these families.

“These appointments are not an act of charity. Many of our colleagues have passed away while serving, and this scheme has been introduced to ensure that their families can sustain themselves without undue hardship."

A similar ceremony occurred on April 6 in Jammu city, where appointment orders under the RAS were distributed to eligible candidates.

On that occasion, the Chief Minister granted appointments under the RAS, including SRO-43 and SRO-94, to 124 candidates from the Jammu division.
