Srinagar, January 30 (NationPress) - The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) announced on Friday the arrest of a patwari (revenue clerk) in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir for allegedly accepting a bribe.
According to a statement from the agency, the patwari from the Revenue Department was apprehended in Mouza Gadoora, Ganderbal, while he was receiving a bribe amounting to Rs 15,000 from the complainant.
“The CBI launched its investigation on January 28, 2026, after receiving a complaint against the accused. It was reported that this public servant had solicited a bribe of Rs 20,000 for providing an extract of Jamabandi and correcting the revenue records associated with the land,” the statement elaborated. The agency set a trap and caught the patwari in the act of accepting the bribe.
“The accused has been taken into custody, and further inquiries are in progress,” it added.
