New Delhi, June 2 (NationPress) In a robust rebuttal to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's request for evidence concerning the impact of Operation Sindoor, Janata Dal (United) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar asserted that such political theatrics regarding national security are the reason for the party's ongoing decline.
Kumar denounced Kharge’s comments as disappointing and driven by political motives.
In an interview with IANS, Kumar remarked, “It is unfortunate for the Congress party that Mallikarjun Kharge holds the position of national president. Following the Pahalgam terror incident, our armed forces exhibited unparalleled bravery, targeting terrorist hideouts within Pakistan. This represented a significant diplomatic achievement for India, as our members of Parliament, during international engagements, highlighted Pakistan’s support for terrorism to the world,” stated Neeraj Kumar.
“Nevertheless, Congress fails to acknowledge this success out of political envy. When it comes to the issue of terrorism, political disagreements should be set aside. It is precisely due to such thoughtless remarks that Congress’s public support continues to wane,” he continued.
Kharge had previously called for a special session of Parliament in light of statements made by Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan in Singapore, where the General categorically dismissed Pakistan's claims, labeling them as “absolutely incorrect.”
Kharge also advocated for an independent assessment of India’s defense readiness, similar to the post-Kargil review.
Regarding Union Minister Chirag Paswan’s reported plans to run in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, Kumar expressed his approval, stating it would fortify the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the state.
“Chirag Paswan is a Union Cabinet Minister in Narendra Modi’s government. His party is affiliated with the NDA. He has publicly indicated that the elections in Bihar will be contested under Nitish Kumar’s leadership, ensuring that Kumar will continue as Chief Minister,” Kumar elaborated.
“If any leader from an NDA ally wishes to contest, they will naturally campaign from the designated seat for their party. This will only bolster the NDA's position in Bihar,” he concluded.
