New Delhi, June 1 (NationPress) The remarks made by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge regarding Operation Sindoor and India's defence readiness have ignited a significant political controversy, eliciting strong responses from leaders across various parties.
Kharge has called for a special parliamentary session to assess India's defence capabilities, and has advocated for an independent evaluation akin to the Kargil Review Committee, following comments from Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan in Singapore.
In a vigorous rebuttal, BJP leader Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh accused Kharge of jeopardizing national interests.
“The CDS's statement pertains to procedural delays. However, the mindset of these Congress leaders has consistently been against the nation, which is why they make such remarks,” he asserted.
RLD leader Malook Nagar criticized the Congress for mirroring the narratives of adversarial nations. “It seems Congress is compelled to speak, even if it means reiterating questions that Pakistan raises. Your inquiries have become breaking news across Pakistan, featuring prominently in their press,” Nagar commented, adding, “The Prime Minister of Pakistan has been globally lamenting, having repeatedly damaged our facilities.”
Spiritual leader Acharya Pramod Krishnam also conveyed his dissatisfaction with Kharge’s remarks.
“Mallikarjun Kharge is a senior Congress leader, yet his statements are juvenile. He should align with India and refrain from trivializing the Rafale crash, which is a symbol of our national pride,” he stated.
Kharge’s statements followed General Anil Chauhan's strong dismissal of Pakistan's claims in an international interview, asserting they were “absolutely incorrect.” Nevertheless, the Congress president raised concerns about India's defence preparedness and called for accountability.
Earlier, Air Marshal A.K. Bharti, Director General of Air Operations, stressed that “losses are a part of combat,” assuring the nation that all Indian Air Force pilots involved had returned safely.
