What is Operation Sindoor? Congress Holds Emergency CWC Meeting to Support Armed Forces

New Delhi, May 7 (NationPress) The Congress party called for an urgent assembly of its top decision-making body, the Congress Working Committee (CWC), on Wednesday to assess developments following the initiation of 'Operation Sindoor', a military strategy aimed at terrorist camps situated across the border in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

In the course of this meeting, the Congress expressed its unwavering support for the Indian Armed Forces and the government's initiatives to tackle terrorism.

Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, alongside other prominent party figures, participated in this crucial meeting.

"We engaged in a comprehensive dialogue during the Congress Working Committee session. Our heartfelt best wishes and unwavering love go out to our armed forces. The Congress Party and the Congress Working Committee express total support," stated the official communication from the party.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge commended the armed forces for their rapid and courageous actions under 'Operation Sindoor'.

“We take immense pride in the Indian Armed Forces, who have delivered a robust response by executing bold and decisive operations against the terrorist camps in Pakistan and PoK as part of 'Operation Sindoor'. We salute the bravery, determination, and patriotism of our courageous soldiers,” he remarked.

Kharge further underscored that the Congress has remained steadfast alongside the nation during crises. “Since the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the Indian National Congress has consistently shown solidarity with the armed forces and the Government, backing every decisive move against cross-border terrorism.”

Reaffirming the party's enduring position, Kharge declared, “India's national policy regarding all forms of terrorism originating from Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir is unambiguous and resolute.”

Highlighting the necessity for collective national unity, the Congress President stated, "Unity at all levels is paramount to safeguard the national integrity and unity of our great Indian nation. The Indian National Congress stands firmly with the valiant soldiers of our country.”

He also referenced the historical sacrifices of Indian soldiers, noting, “History attests to the fact that our heroes have consistently laid down their lives for the unity and integrity of the nation, prioritizing national interests above all.”
