Patna, Feb 14 (NationPress) A jewellery store located close to Patut Chowk in the vicinity of the Ranitalab police station was targeted by thieves on Saturday, as reported by local police.
Unidentified individuals broke into the establishment by demolishing a wall, escaping with a significant quantity of gold and silver jewellery, which has left local traders in a state of alarm.
Shop owner Rajneesh Kumar stated that he had securely closed the shop the previous evening and returned home.
On the following morning, local villagers alerted him to the destruction of the rear wall of the shop.
Upon opening the shop, the full scale of the theft became evident.
The culprits reportedly made off with silver anklets, toe rings, coins, rings, as well as gold rings, chains, earrings, nose rings, and other precious ornaments.
A large number of items kept in the shop for customer orders ahead of the wedding season were also stolen.
In an effort to evade capture, the thieves removed the DVR from the CCTV cameras installed within the shop.
All lockers and locks containing valuables were found to be broken.
Upon receiving the report, the Ranitalab Police arrived at the scene and commenced an investigation.
Local residents are being interviewed, and forensic teams have been dispatched to gather evidence.
"We were informed of the theft on Saturday morning and quickly arrived at the site. The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team and fingerprint analysts have been summoned to collect evidence. CCTV footage from nearby locations is being examined, and several suspects have been identified. We are working to apprehend the culprits soon," stated the SHO of Ranitalab police station.
This incident represents the second significant jewellery burglary reported in Bihar in just 24 hours.
Previously, on Friday afternoon around 3 PM, armed robbers raided a jewellery shop in Samastipur, fleeing with gold and silver jewellery valued at over Rs 50 lakh.
In light of these thefts, police have ramped up patrolling efforts and investigations.
