Midnight Robbery in Vaishali, Bihar: Armed Gang Targets Jeweller's Home
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, April 21 (NationPress) In a shocking midnight robbery, approximately six armed bandits raided the residence of a jeweler in the Vaishali district of Bihar, making away with more than 50 grams of gold jewelry and cash.
The audacious event occurred around 12:30 a.m. in Khanpur village, falling under the Mahnar police station's jurisdiction, as confirmed by local law enforcement.
As per the police report, the robbers scaled the boundary wall of Ranjit Kumar Shah's home and cut through the main gate to gain access. When the gang attempted to break in, family members raised an alarm, attracting the attention of nearby residents.
However, none dared to confront the heavily armed thieves. To create chaos and deter any resistance, the robbers allegedly set off a crude bomb. They spent nearly half an hour inside the house, systematically searching the premises before fleeing with the stolen items.
Ranjit Shah recounted that, despite alerting the local police promptly, officers did not arrive until around 3 a.m., by which point the criminals had already escaped.
“Upon realizing the robbers were approaching, we secured all the doors. Nevertheless, they came equipped with ladders, climbed onto the rooftop, and forcibly entered the house. They assaulted us during the ordeal, injuring my son. They rummaged through every corner and took away our gold and cash,” he stated.
Praveen Kumar, the SDPO of Mahnar, confirmed the robbery details. “We have received a report about the incident from Ranjit Kumar Shah. The gang detonated at least one bomb during their operation. A forensic science laboratory (FSL) team has been summoned to gather evidence, and the district police are reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity. The robbers failed to take the DVR, which will greatly assist in our investigation. We anticipate cracking the case quickly,” Kumar assured.
“Initial investigations indicate that one or two local individuals might have played a role in this crime. We are exploring all possibilities, and the culprits will be apprehended soon,” he added.
