Arrah (Bihar), March 10 (NationPress) - In a bold daytime heist, a group of armed thieves made off with jewellery valued at crores of rupees from the Tanishq showroom located at Gopali Chowk in the Arrah police jurisdiction of Bhojpur district, as confirmed by police officials.
The stolen loot comprised gold, silver, and diamond ornaments.
The assailants first subdued the security guard at the entrance, took his weapon by force, and assaulted him prior to executing the robbery.
The incident caused panic in the vicinity, leaving shopkeepers and onlookers in disbelief. The precise value of the stolen merchandise is still under evaluation.
Victim security guard Manoj Kumar shared his harrowing experience, explaining that the showroom commenced operations at 10 a.m. on Monday, just before Holi.
"Six criminals arrived in a car and parked it across the street. According to showroom policy, we only allow groups of up to four to enter at once, so we let them inside in pairs. When the sixth individual entered, he pointed a pistol at my head, seized my weapon, and assaulted me. They then began collecting jewellery into their bags," he recounted.
During the robbery, the assailants also assaulted a salesman before fleeing with the valuables.
In the aftermath, police officials and senior representatives from Tanishq arrived at the showroom to assist in assessing the losses and investigating the incident.
"We are providing all necessary details to the authorities. This incident is a significant blow to us," remarked a company official.
Meanwhile, showroom staff reported a delay in police response. "There were 8-9 armed criminals inside the showroom. When we contacted the police, the robbers were still present. If the police had arrived sooner, they might have apprehended the culprits. However, they continued to assure us they were en route. By the time they arrived, the criminals had already fled," stated an employee.
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities reviewing CCTV footage for potential leads.
