Malayalam action-survival thriller Varavu, starring Joju George in the lead, has had its theatrical release postponed from its originally announced date of 12 June. Olga Productions, the film's production house, confirmed the delay on 11 June, citing unforeseen circumstances, and promised a new release date shortly.

The production house shared the announcement on its Instagram page, stating: 'The release of our film VARAVU, directed by Shaji Kailas and starring Joju George and Arjun Ashokan in the lead roles, which was scheduled for June 12, has been postponed due to certain unforeseen circumstances.'

Olga Productions added that the decision was taken 'as part of our commitment to delivering the best possible cinematic experience to our audience,' and assured fans that Varavu 'will soon reach you with a new release date.'

What the Trailer Revealed

Anticipation for the film had been building steadily since the release of its trailer. The film centres on Paulson — also known as Polachan — a murder convict played by Joju George, who returns home on a 10-day parole with revenge on his mind. Set against the backdrop of the Malabar region, the trailer paints a grim picture of a man whose arrival sends his enemies into a panic.

A key antagonist, Yohan (played by Abhimanyu Thilakan), is shown stepping up to confront Paulson, while a nun — Paulson's elder sister, played by actress Sukanya — emerges as the one moral anchor in his life, urging him to let go of his grudges.
