Why Have Eight Judicial Officers in Rajasthan Been Declared APO?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jaipur, Feb 17 (NationPress) The Acting Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court, Sanjeev Prakash Sharma, has placed eight judicial officers under “Awaiting Posting Orders” (APO) effective immediately. This directive was issued by the High Court Registrar General for administrative reasons.
While the APO order lacks detailed explanations, reports indicate that during a surprise inspection of subordinate courts, multiple courtrooms were found empty, with several judicial officers not present at their assigned seats during official hours.
Additionally, there were claims that some officers were busy dictating judgments in their chambers during scheduled court hours, despite having designated court and chamber timings.
Earlier that Tuesday morning, a bomb threat was reported via email concerning the High Court complex at Jhalamand, Jodhpur. As a precaution, the entire complex was evacuated, and security protocols were implemented, temporarily disrupting court proceedings.
A notice was displayed to inform litigants and lawyers that hearings would start at 11:30 am. Amidst heightened security, Acting Chief Justice Sharma conducted a surprise inspection at the Heritage Building complex of the Rajasthan High Court, visiting various district, metropolitan, and subordinate courts.
During this inspection, several courtrooms were reportedly found unoccupied, and numerous judicial officers were absent from their designated positions. The Acting Chief Justice noted these serious lapses in discipline and punctuality.
After the inspection, the Acting Chief Justice returned to the High Court. Shortly after, Registrar General Chanchal Mishra issued formal orders to place the eight judicial officers under APO immediately. Among those reassigned, Ajay Sharma has been instructed to report to the Rajasthan High Court, Jodhpur. The other seven officers have been directed to report to the District and Sessions Judge's headquarters in Jodhpur District until further posting orders are given.
