Thimphu, Nov 11 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday pledged decisive action against those responsible for the tragic car explosion in Delhi. He emphasized that Indian agencies will thoroughly investigate the conspiracy, assuring that the individuals behind the attack "will not be spared".
Speaking at Changlimethang Ground in Thimphu, PM Modi highlighted the long-standing spiritual and cultural ties between India and Bhutan.
He remarked, "Today is a significant day for Bhutan, the royal family, and all advocates of global peace. Our nations have nurtured a profound spiritual and cultural connection for centuries. Thus, it was my and India's commitment to take part in this momentous occasion."
"Today, I arrive with great sorrow. The horrifying event that transpired in Delhi yesterday evening has deeply impacted us all. I empathize with the sorrow of the affected families. The nation stands united with them. I was in constant communication with the investigative agencies throughout the night... Our teams will unravel this conspiracy. The perpetrators will face justice," he stated.
PM Modi's comments followed a blast in New Delhi on Monday evening, where a Haryana-registered vehicle parked near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station detonated, claiming at least eight lives and injuring many others. Heightened security measures have been implemented across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Mumbai, particularly around crowded venues and religious sites.
Earlier that day, PM Modi arrived in Thimphu for a two-day visit, warmly welcomed by his Bhutanese counterpart, Tshering Tobgay.
The purpose of the visit is to strengthen the India-Bhutan alliance and reinforce India's commitment to its Neighbourhood First Policy.
"Just arrived in Bhutan. Thankful to Prime Minister Tobgay for the gracious welcome at the airport. This visit exemplifies the deep camaraderie and cooperation between our nations. India and Bhutan share a proven partnership based on trust, goodwill, and mutual respect. I am eager to further enhance our close relationship during this visit," PM Modi shared on X.
Welcoming PM Modi, Tshering Tobgay expressed on social media, "I join the entire nation in welcoming my elder brother, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to Bhutan."
In his departure statement, PM Modi mentioned, "I will be visiting the Kingdom of Bhutan from 11-12 November 2025. It will be my honor to join the people of Bhutan as they celebrate the 70th birth anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth King."
This visit coincides with the exposition of the Sacred Piprahwa Relics of Lord Buddha from India. He will also participate in prayer ceremonies for the Holy Relics at Tashichhodzong in Thimphu and engage in the Global Peace Prayer Festival organized by the Royal Government of Bhutan.
Referring to this, he said, "The display of the Sacred Piprahwa Relics of Lord Buddha from India during the Global Peace Prayer Festival in Bhutan signifies our two nations' profound civilizational and spiritual connections."
According to the Prime Minister, this visit will also mark another significant achievement in our energy partnership with the inauguration of the Punatsangchhu-II hydropower project.
