Kolkata, Nov 2 (NationPress) - The former Forest Minister of West Bengal, Jyotipriya Mallick, who was previously detained by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the ration distribution scam, faced an attack outside his residence in the Salt Lake area of Kolkata on Sunday, as reported by the police.
The police stated that Mallick was assaulted by an unknown individual.
The assailant punched the former Minister in the face and pushed him onto the road.
Authorities apprehended the accused youth shortly after the incident.
As per police accounts, Mallick, affectionately known as Balu da, returned home from Habra in the North 24 Parganas district on Sunday.
His office is situated within his residence in Salt Lake.
