The individual arrested has been identified as Hemanth Kumar. The Rajajinagar Police in Bengaluru took action after the actress lodged a formal complaint.

Hemanth Kumar is known for his work in the Kannada film Richie, where he served as an actor, director, and producer. According to police reports, the accused met the actress in 2022 and subsequently offered her a role in his film. It is reported that during a promotional event in Mumbai on August 5, 2023, he allegedly spiked her drink with alcohol.

Once the actress became unconscious, he purportedly captured her private photos and videos, later exploiting her physically and commencing a blackmail scheme.

Initial investigations showed that Hemanth Kumar and the actress had previously had disagreements after he accused her of not attending promotional events and ignoring his calls.

The accused had also filed a complaint with the Kannada Film Chamber of Commerce, claiming that the actress and her mother had assaulted him, prompting intervention from the film body at that time.

In her statement, the actress revealed that the accused promised her Rs 2 lakh for the role, of which Rs 60,000 was given as an advance. She claimed he coerced her into wearing revealing outfits and insisted that she meet him alone at a private hotel under the guise of a promotional event.

Upon her refusal, he allegedly threatened to post her uncensored photos on social media and issued threats against her mother.

More updates are anticipated as the police continue their inquiry.
