'Congress Labels Terrorists as Angels': Karnataka BJP Responds to Kharge's Remarks
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bengaluru, April 7 (NationPress) The Karnataka chapter of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a scathing rebuke against Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for his purported comments about 'slain BJP and RSS workers' in Assam, asserting that to Congress, terrorists appear as angels.
In response, the Leader of the Opposition and seasoned BJP figure R. Ashoka remarked, "Mallikarjun Kharge ought to clarify who was responsible for the cooker bomb explosion in Mangaluru. For them, terrorists look like angels. They remain silent regarding Maoists while continuously attacking the BJP and RSS. Venomous snakes are being unleashed across various states, and soon they must be eradicated. The populace will determine who the actual snakes are. Even his son, Priyank Kharge, seems to encourage him to make such remarks," Ashoka stated.
BJP MLA S. Muniraju has reported that a formal complaint has been lodged against Kharge for his controversial statements concerning the BJP and RSS, demanding his arrest.
During an election address in Assam on Monday, Kharge allegedly suggested that "if a poisonous snake appears during namaz, one should halt the prayer and eliminate it; similarly, if BJP or RSS members disrupt the prayer, they should also be killed; this is stated in the Quran."
Muniraju condemned Kharge's comments as incendiary, claiming they could provoke violence.
He cautioned that such declarations might incite communal disturbances, equating them to backing anti-national and extremist factions.
Muniaraju, along with a Karnataka BJP team, including district president Harish, MLA and district president C.K. Ramamurthy, and leader Prakash, met with Karnataka's Director General of Police (DGP) M.A. Saleem to file a complaint regarding these statements.
He indicated that the State DGP has promised a thorough investigation and appropriate measures will be taken.
Muniraju described Kharge's comments as anti-national and reiterated the demand for his arrest.
BJP MLA C.K. Ramamurthy, addressing the issue, stated that Kharge's remarks violate the Constitution and called for action against him.
Previously, the Karnataka BJP delegation had submitted a formal complaint to the State Director General, alleging that Kharge made a provocative speech during an election rally in Assam.
In their complaint, the BJP officials insisted on Kharge's immediate arrest for allegedly inciting violence and requested enhanced security measures to protect BJP members.
