Bengaluru, Feb 1 (NationPress) Senior Congress figure B.R. Patil, who represents the Aland constituency in Kalaburagi district, has resigned from his role as the Political Advisor to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday, highlighting the ongoing conflicts within the ruling Congress party in Karnataka. MLA Patil is known to be a close confidant of Siddaramaiah.

According to sources, Patil submitted his resignation letter to Siddaramaiah's office via fax on Friday evening.

MLA B.R. Patil had aspirations for a Cabinet position and publicly expressed his frustration over not being included. He also criticized the Congress-led administration for the lack of funds allocated to MLAs.

Being close to Siddaramaiah, Patil secured the ticket to contest the Aland seat against BJP heavyweight Malikayya Guttedar.

Patil voiced his dissatisfaction with Priyank Kharge, the Minister for RDPR, IT, and BT, along with Krishna Byre Gowda, the Minister for Revenue. He further indicated his intention to resign from his position.

Despite his close ties with Siddaramaiah, Patil was not granted a Cabinet position, as Ministers Priyank Kharge and Sharan Prakash Patil were included from Kalaburagi district at the behest of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, as per sources.

Siddaramaiah is already worried about the High Court's pending judgment concerning the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) case. Meanwhile, the Congress high command has shown discontent towards ministers aligned with Siddaramaiah, who are forming a faction led by Satish Jarkiholi, the Minister for PWD.

Patil has not yet publicly commented on his decision to resign from his position.

In a controversial video prior to the Lok Sabha elections, he was heard claiming that the BJP might orchestrate a false flag operation by bombing the Ram Mandir to consolidate Hindu votes and falsely blame Muslims for the attack.
