New Delhi, Dec 10 (NationPress) Former Indian wicketkeeper-batter and the current mentor for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Dinesh Karthik, recently shared insights into the intense preparations leading up to the IPL mini-auction. He characterized this period as both challenging and rewarding, marking it as one of the most demanding yet enjoyable times in his cricket career.

Karthik elaborated on the extensive behind-the-scenes strategies and preparations, asserting that the discussions could easily be turned into a captivating series. In a recent video posted by RCB on X, he remarked, "If the entire world could witness the discussions and deliberations, it could inspire a grand 10-part TV series."

He described the thrilling 10 days preceding the auction, stating, "The level of preparation was unlike anything I've experienced before. Throughout my cricketing career, I've never faced such a unique situation, where I was deeply involved in strategizing for team formation in a boardroom context. The meticulous process that Mo and Andy conduct is incredibly detailed and engaging."

Karthik expressed his enthusiasm for being part of the core strategic team, despite the long hours spent discussing plans. "I relished every moment spent in that room. Admittedly, the days were long, often extending to 12 or 14 hours, but I cherished every single second. I would jump at the chance to relive that experience before an auction again," he noted.

When comparing the mini-auction to the mega auction, he acknowledged the latter's unmatched excitement, saying, "While this is a mini auction, it differs significantly. The anticipation leading up to the mega auction was truly special."

Karthik also discussed the complexity involved in evaluating players, saying, "There are numerous names and skill sets to consider while assembling the team. It’s an intricate process that I genuinely enjoyed."

He further explained the decision-making challenges, stating, "Auction dynamics are fascinating and mentally taxing. You must assess various factors: A - the skill set; B - what it takes to be part of a team; and C - the auction order. Questions arise about where players come from and how aggressively to bid."

Karthik highlighted the competitive environment among franchises, noting, "In an auction setting, there are ten tables, each aiming to build the best team with the finest players. Success is not solely about outsmarting others; it's also about understanding your strategy and what you aim to accomplish."

He concluded by reflecting on the camaraderie among team members, stating, "I was eagerly anticipating our reunion on the ground. Seeing everyone back together was such a heartwarming experience. To be honest, I hardly slept last night, filled with excitement to meet Andy, Malo, Mo, and the rest of the team."
