Mumbai, June 7 (NationPress) Renowned playback singer Kaushiki Chakraborty, celebrated for her contributions to ‘Mirzya’, ‘Shikara’, and her flawless renditions of Khayaal Gayki within the Hindustani Classical music tradition, has unveiled plans for her live autobiography and album.
The project, titled ‘Pankh’, will debut on her YouTube channel, produced by her own Blue Dot Productions, which she co-runs with Shantanu Moitra, signaling the commencement of her entrepreneurial journey.
This live autobiography comprises six episodes, each narrating a personal anecdote from the singer’s life. The innovative storytelling format distinguishes this project as a groundbreaking endeavor among Indian musicians, particularly in the Classical music realm.
The album’s trailer was also unveiled on Saturday. Each episode concludes with a song that encapsulates the essence of the story. Kaushiki’s talent as a lyricist is showcased with two out of the six songs in the album. The narrative addresses her experiences as the daughter of Padma Bhushan awardee Ajoy Chakraborty, along with her quest for self-discovery and the legacy she aspires to leave.
In ‘Pankh’, Kaushiki reveals her most genuine and unfiltered self, paving the way for future generations. Music Composer Shantanu Moitra steps into the role of Director for this project.
Last year, Kaushiki honored Thumri vocalists and her spiritual Gurus — Gauhar Jaan, Begum Akhtar, M.S. Subbulakshmi, Shobha Gurtu, Noor Jehan, and Kishori Amonkar — during a concert in Mumbai.
Previously, she has performed two concerts in Germany and Mumbai, featuring musicians such as Aruna Sairam and sufi singer Harshdeep Kaur.
