Will Kavitha Cooperate if Summoned by the SIT?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, Feb 2 (NationPress) - During a press conference on Monday, K. Kavitha, President of Telangana Jagruthi, stated that she is willing to cooperate with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) if summoned regarding the alleged phone-tapping incident from the previous BRS administration. Kavitha, who is the daughter of former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), expressed her suspicion that both her and her husband’s phones might have been monitored as well.
“Should the SIT send a notice, I will be present and assist in the investigation,” she affirmed in response to a question at the press conference.
The former MLC indicated her anticipation for KCR to clarify the details of his recent interrogation by the SIT.
KCR was questioned for nearly five hours at his home in Hyderabad on Sunday, linked to the ongoing investigation into the alleged surveillance of multiple individuals during the tenure of the BRS.
In light of BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao’s strong response to the SIT's summons of KCR, Kavitha emphasized that no individual is exempt from legal scrutiny. “Public figures must confront various challenges and accept the repercussions,” she stated.
Kavitha urged everyone to support a transparent investigation, suggesting it would be beneficial to conclude the matter swiftly.
After her suspension from the BRS and resignation from the Member of the Legislative Council last September, she voiced her opinion that the BRS should reflect on the circumstances leading to KCR's summons.
She expressed skepticism about the Congress government’s ability to resolve the phone-tapping case, stating, “I doubt the genuine culprits will be revealed. This commotion is merely a diversion, likely linked to upcoming municipal elections.”
In her remarks, the former MP insisted that for the investigation to progress effectively, the government must exhibit transparency and seriousness, pointing out that there has been no advancement in the case for two years.
Kavitha also accused the state government of deceiving the citizens of Telangana through what she claimed are dubious Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and fake companies.
She criticized the announcements of investments with firms that lack credibility, public profile, and sufficient market capitalization while boasting about substantial investments.
“While the headlines may be sensational, the reality reveals the truth. The people of Telangana deserve clarity, not falsehoods,” she concluded.
