Should Those Who Chose the Wrong Path Face Investigation, Asserts Telangana CM?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, Feb 3 (NationPress) Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday ridiculed BRS leaders for referring to former chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) as the father of Telangana. He emphasized that those who have taken the wrong path must confront an investigation.
The Chief Minister responded to the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders who questioned the summons directed at KCR by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) that is investigating the alleged phone-tapping scandal.
Following a nearly five-hour interrogation of the BRS chief by the SIT, the Chief Minister criticized the BRS for querying the validity of the SIT’s actions.
“Some individuals are proclaiming themselves as the father of Telangana. When law enforcement issues a notice, they claim it affects the entire Telangana populace,” he stated.
Speaking at the Ravi Narayana Reddy National Award ceremony in Hyderabad, he questioned the legitimacy of KCR's title. “The true father of the nation, Gandhiji, sacrificed his status and life. What have these individuals who now label themselves the father of the nation accomplished?” he queried.
He referenced Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, asserting that in a democratic framework, those who take the wrong path must be subjected to investigation.
He recalled instances where figures like former Jharkhand chief minister Shibu Soren faced scrutiny.
“We are not infallible beings. Historical monarchs used to represent their suffering as that of the entire kingdom. The era of such monarchs has ended. In a democracy, those who err must be investigated,” he argued.
Revanth Reddy recounted the incident of Professor Kodandaram being arrested during the BRS regime when police forcibly entered his residence. “Did you not recall the freedom fighters then? The police didn’t break down your doors to seize you, did they? They simply issued notices and called you for inquiries,” he pointed out.
He questioned how BRS leaders, who have acquired assets and positions worth billions, could still refer to themselves as activists.
The Chief Minister highlighted that individuals like Ravi Narayana Reddy sacrificed everything for the sake of Telangana and played a pivotal role in the armed peasant struggle against tyrannical forces.
“Despite his feudal background, he was a remarkable individual who donated his 500 acres of land for the underprivileged. He fought against oppressive rule and facilitated liberation from forced labor. He was elected as a Member of Parliament with a majority even greater than that of Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India,” he stated.
The Chief Minister expressed his delight over the Ravi Narayana Reddy award being conferred upon B. Sudarshan Reddy, a former Supreme Court judge.
He accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of aiming for a 'One Nation, One Party' agenda.
He asserted that the BJP introduced the SIR (Special Intensive Revision) to undermine the voting rights granted by the Constitution.
He called upon the Communists to raise awareness in rural areas about this conspiracy aimed at suppressing the right to vote, warning that the Constitution is under siege and urging for public enlightenment.
