Hyderabad, March 16 (NationPress) Maintaining his criticism of former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy stated on Sunday that a ‘drunkard’ cannot be regarded as the father of Telangana.

The Chief Minister's remarks were in response to comments made by Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader Harish Rao, who claimed that BRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) is the father of Telangana.

Harish Rao demanded an apology from Revanth Reddy for previous derogatory statements about KCR, asserting that KCR is the father of Telangana while Revanth Reddy embodies the father of insults.

During a public meeting hours later in Station Ghanpur, located in Warangal district, Revanth Reddy intensified his attack on KCR.

“For whom, KCR is considered the father of the nation. Will this father of Telangana awaken without the aroma of liquor?” he questioned.

The Chief Minister emphasized that figures like Konda Laxman Bapuji and Professor Jayashankar should be recognized as the true fathers of Telangana.

“A person who has embezzled lakhs of crores, is addicted to liquor, and has drained the lifeblood of Telangana's people cannot be considered a father of Telangana,” declared Revanth Reddy.

He also criticized the BRS leader for his absence from the Assembly, noting that KCR has received salary and allowances for the past 15 months without fulfilling his legislative duties. “Why is he designated as the leader of the opposition when he remains inactive? Why is he drawing public funds without contributing to the Assembly for the welfare of the people?” he questioned.

The Chief Minister pointed out that KCR, who inherited Telangana as a surplus state, left a debt burden of Rs 8.29 lakh crore for the Congress administration. This government has already paid Rs 84,000 crore in interest and Rs 64,000 crore in principal within just one year.

He asserted the importance of informing the public about the state’s financial status, but he also vowed that despite these challenges, the government will honor its commitments.

Revanth Reddy enumerated the actions taken over the past year to fulfill those promises. He mentioned that 150 crore women in the state benefited from a free bus travel scheme, with the government expending Rs 5005 crores for this initiative. Additionally, the government provides 200 units of free electricity to 50 lakh families, has waived Rs 20,610 crore in farm loans, and created 57,946 government jobs.

He promised to elevate Warangal to the same level as Hyderabad, stating that the government allocated Rs 6,500 crore for its development. He noted that it was under the Congress government that Warangal secured a coach factory and approval for an airport.

Furthermore, he inaugurated development projects worth Rs 800 crore in the Station Ghanpur constituency, which is represented by senior leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari, who switched allegiance to Congress from BRS last year.
