What Did Kavitha Say in Response to Revanth Reddy's Remark About KCR?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, Jan 2 (NationPress) - In a fierce response to the statement made by Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who suggested that it would not be inappropriate if his predecessor K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) faced execution for the alleged "injustice" done to the State regarding river water management, Telangana Jagruthi leader and KCR's daughter, K. Kavitha, declared on Friday that Revanth Reddy deserves to be hanged twice.
Kavitha expressed her outrage regarding Reddy's comments, stating that it infuriates her to hear such sentiments directed at a leader who played a crucial role in the Telangana movement.
"Revanth Reddy should be hanged not just once, but twice," she asserted.
She made these remarks while addressing reporters at the Telangana Legislative Council.
Kavitha urged KCR to address the Assembly concerning the Krishna river water issue to silence the Chief Minister and his ministers who have criticized him.
She emphasized that for the BRS to thrive, KCR must engage with the Assembly and cannot leave critical matters of river water to younger party leaders.
Additionally, she took a jab at her cousin and former minister T. Harish Rao, calling him a 'bubble shooter' while noting his new role as the deputy leader of the party in the Assembly.
Kavitha also revealed that she had approached Chairman G. Sukhender Reddy to formalize her resignation.
In September, she had resigned from the Legislative Council after KCR suspended her from BRS due to what was termed as "anti-party" activities.
After her suspension, she resigned from the party and has since been active in politics through Telangana Jagruthi, a cultural organization she founded during the Telangana movement.
On Thursday, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy remarked that it would not be unjust if both KCR and his nephew Harish Rao were hanged for the perceived injustices inflicted upon Telangana regarding river water allocation during the BRS administration.
This statement was made during a PowerPoint presentation by Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy to Congress leaders on river water concerns.
