Hyderabad, Aug 3 (NationPress) - The discord within the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) escalated significantly on Sunday as K. Kavitha, daughter of party President and former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, openly criticized party MLA and ex-minister G. Jagadish Reddy.
Kavitha accused certain “insiders” of inciting derogatory remarks against her made by suspended Congress MLC Chintapandu Naveen, known as Teenmaar Mallanna.
Addressing the media, she claimed that a prominent leader within the BRS was the source of these comments, which explains the silence of other BRS leaders.
In a personal jab at Reddy, she referred to him as “Lilliput”.
Kavitha asserted that the leader who “only survives in KCR's shadow” has harmed the BRS in Nalgonda district. “If KCR is not there, who are you?” she questioned.
Reddy reportedly made comments regarding her standing, recognition, and perceived deviation from party principles.
“Another minor leader who joined the party later is also questioning my credibility. Telangana society will not spare such leaders,” Kavitha emphasized.
She expressed dismay over how some leaders have resorted to encouraging offensive remarks against her. “Your attempts to marginalize me will come back to haunt you, as I believe in Karma,” she warned.
Kavitha, who leads Telangana Jagruthi, the cultural wing of the BRS, has been vocal against several senior leaders, including her brother and BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao, especially after a confidential letter to KCR was leaked earlier this year. She has described KCR as a “god” surrounded by “devils.”
In response to Kavitha's remarks, Reddy took to X to commend her knowledge regarding his involvement in the Telangana movement while also offering sympathy over her utilization of comments from KCR's adversaries.
Kavitha further clarified that her remarks regarding BJP MP C.M. Ramesh's comments on a BRS-BJP merger stemmed from her leaked correspondence to KCR.
The BRS MLC stated that she is still awaiting government approval for a dharna advocating for 42 percent reservation for BCs, expressing hope that the High Court would uphold her rights. The High Court is scheduled to hear the Telangana Jagruthi's petition on Monday requesting authorization for a 72-hour hunger strike.
She indicated that the hunger strike would adhere to the Gandhian principles of peaceful protest. With 112 BC castes in Telangana, she mentioned that the 72-hour dharna aims to give 40 castes each day a platform to voice their concerns.
Kavitha challenged Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi to vocally support the call for 42 percent reservation for BCs in Parliament if they genuinely care about the issue.
She criticized the BJP for failing to approve two bills submitted to the Centre regarding 42 percent reservation for BCs in education, employment, and local governance.
