Kavitha Criticizes BRS Leadership for Electoral Loss
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, Nov 27 (NationPress) K. Kavitha, the president of Telangana Jagruthi, asserted on Friday that the BRS faced electoral defeat due to the hubris of its leaders and the party's inability to fulfill its commitments. She made this statement in response to her brother, K. T. Rama Rao, who is the working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), following her exoneration by a Delhi court in the excise policy case.
“Am I to blame for the loss?” Kavitha questioned during a media interaction.
She indicated that the BRS's downfall stemmed from its failure to provide employment and housing as promised, as well as the decision to nominate the 'looters' again for elections. “Crucially, the party's arrogant attitude contributed significantly to its defeat,” expressed the daughter of K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), the BRS president and former chief minister.
“You are in denial, brother; it’s time to accept reality. Politics requires courage, and one must acknowledge defeat. Understand what transpired during the elections and adjust accordingly,” she advised.
Kavitha criticized KTR for attempting to spin the court ruling in their favor. She deemed it inappropriate for him to hold her accountable for the party's electoral loss.
She reminded him that before her imprisonment, neither KCR nor KTR had publicly defended her, and even the BRS social media presence was absent in her support.
At the time of her arrest in March 2024 by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Kavitha was serving as a BRS MLC, spending over five months in jail before being granted bail.
Last year, Kavitha departed from BRS and resigned as MLC after being suspended for actions deemed anti-party.
She expressed that receiving a clean chit just two months before launching her new political party was a blessing from God.
Earlier, KTR had posted on X, asserting that the AAP government, led by Kejriwal, was dismantled under the guise of a fictitious liquor scam, which he claimed resulted in the political fallout for BRS in both Assembly and Parliament elections.
His comments were a reaction to a Delhi court's decision to discharge former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, and 21 others, including Kavitha, from the liquor policy case.
“Kavitha Garu has received justice today in court, and similarly, all charges against our leaders will be revealed as false, politically motivated, and fabricated,” wrote the BRS leader.
