Hyderabad, Feb 24 (NationPress) Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of providing protection to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders K. Chandrasekhar Rao and K. T. Rama Rao regarding phone-tapping allegations.
He questioned why the BJP-led central government has not responded to the Telangana government's request for a Red Corner Notice against the phone-tapping suspects Prabhakar Rao and Sravan Kumar, who are currently in the United States.
The Chief Minister made these statements during a public gathering in Nizamabad as part of the Congress party's campaign for the Legislative Council elections from the Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar Graduates' constituency.
Revanth Reddy further claimed that the BJP exploited the phone-tapping issue to coerce the BRS into withdrawing from the MLC elections, alleging that BRS leaders faced intimidation with threats of arrest.
Additionally, he queried why the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had not taken action against K. T. Rama Rao in connection with the Formula-E race irregularities, noting that the ED had confiscated documents related to both the Formula-E race and sheep scams.
The Chief Minister suggested a covert agreement between the BJP and BRS, mentioning that although the BRS is not participating in the MLC elections, it continues to urge voters to defeat the Congress party.
Revanth Reddy campaigned in Nizamabad, Mancherial, and Nizamabad to support Congress candidate Narender Reddy.
The Congress leader asserted that under the alleged secret arrangement between the BJP and BRS, the BJP secured eight Lok Sabha seats while the BRS lost its deposit in another eight.
He challenged the BJP to explain its contributions to Telangana following its eight Lok Sabha victories.
Revanth Reddy highlighted the potential benefits of the Pranahita Chevella project for Adilabad district, lamenting that Maharashtra has not given the necessary permissions.
He questioned why the BJP had not persuaded the Maharashtra government to approve the project.
CM Revanth Reddy accused former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) of plotting against the Congress government from his farmhouse.
“The public has already turned against the BRS, suggesting KCR stay at his farmhouse, yet he continues to engage in conspiracy politics,” he stated.
He remarked that the BRS, which failed to deliver during its decade in power, is now questioning the Congress government about its brief tenure.
Pointing out that numerous young individuals took their lives due to unemployment during the BRS administration, the Chief Minister stated his government has created 55,163 government jobs in a short span.
Revanth Reddy noted that the Congress government has forgiven Rs 21,000 crore in farm loans benefitting 25 lakh farmers, alongside providing Rs 12,000 per acre annually under the Rythu Bharosa scheme.
He alleged that KCR imposed a significant debt burden on the state's finances, while the Congress government is currently disbursing Rs 6,500 crore every month, totaling Rs 75,000 crore annually to settle these debts.
“Our administration has borrowed Rs 65,000 crore to address the debts accrued during KCR's tenure,” he concluded.
