Guwahati, Jan 18 (NationPress) On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the ambitious Rs 6,957-crore Kaziranga Elevated Corridor project located in the Nagaon district of Assam.
This corridor is among the largest wildlife-conscious infrastructure initiatives, aimed at facilitating safe wildlife transit across Kaziranga National Park, minimizing road accidents along the National Highway, and enhancing eco-tourism.
Residents expressed gratitude to PM Modi for this initiative, optimistic that it will create local job opportunities.
Envisioned at a cost of approximately Rs 6,950 crore, the Kaziranga Elevated Corridor will be constructed along National Highway-715 and extend about 35 km through the Kaziranga area.
The primary goal of this project is to guarantee safe and unhindered wildlife movement, particularly during flood events, while also alleviating human-wildlife conflicts.
The development will encompass elevated roads, wider thoroughfares, and bypasses, all designed with a focus on environmental conservation and ecosystem preservation.
Community members present at the event were enthusiastic and delighted about the wildlife-friendly initiative, showing appreciation to PM Modi, although some noted that previous governments should have pursued this sooner.
Female attendees also celebrated the initiative, labeling it a progressive and compassionate step that will enhance the region's infrastructure while protecting wildlife.
One woman remarked, "He (PM Modi) has brought this project for the animals of Kaziranga. We are thrilled about this." Another participant expressed joy over seeing PM Modi's commitment to Assam.
One attendee added, "Assam was previously underdeveloped, but Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and PM Modi are collaborating to advance it, which brings us immense joy."
