Gandhinagar, March 8 (NationPress) Arvind Kejriwal, the Convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), encouraged the citizens of Gujarat to dismiss both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress during a rally on Sunday. He asserted that the state requires a comprehensive overhaul of its political framework rather than merely switching one party for another.

Speaking at the "Parivartan Lao, Kisan Bachao Yatra" rally in Gandhinagar, Kejriwal emphasized the necessity of establishing a "government of the people" that operates autonomously. “This time, Gujarat will witness a government that represents its people and makes independent choices. We need a transformation in the governance system for the advancement of Gujarat,” he stated.

Kejriwal noted that AAP representatives, including Yashu Bhai, Pravin Ram, and Manoj Sorathiya, had recently traveled across villages and localities for 10 to 12 days, offering prayers at the Somnath Temple and engaging with farmers before arriving in Gandhinagar for the rally.

He reported that their journey unveiled significant distress among farmers, claiming, “Everywhere we went, farmers expressed their dissatisfaction and hardship. In several areas, there is a shortage of drinking water, while others suffer from a lack of irrigation. Prices have escalated, and farmers are not receiving fair compensation for their produce,” he accused.

Kejriwal criticized the BJP's three-decade governance in Gujarat, arguing that the farmers, youth, and traders have not seen any benefits. “Only the leaders of BJP and Congress are thriving. Their business partnership continues to prosper,” he remarked.

He referenced protests by farmers in Botad against the "kadda" system, alleging that police actions resulted in the incarceration of 85 farmers for extended periods. “Farmers were protesting peacefully, yet the state government intruded into their homes, forcibly removed them, and imprisoned them,” he added.

Additionally, he mentioned the detention of AAP MLA Chaitar Vasava and farmer leader Pravin Ram, claiming they were jailed for addressing corruption issues within the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme.

Kejriwal also highlighted his own arrest related to the Delhi excise policy case, noting that central agencies had conducted searches at his home, bank accounts, and offices but “did not uncover a single rupee.” He stated, “The court has confirmed that there is no evidence or witnesses against me.”

In contrast to BJP and Congress, Kejriwal asserted that he would not permit his children to enter politics, insisting that AAP would provide opportunities to candidates from ordinary backgrounds rather than the relatives of political figures.

He urged farmers to oppose the BJP in upcoming elections, stressing that the forthcoming political contest should focus on transforming the governance system in the state. “Once the people's government is established, the initial step will be to eradicate the misconduct and corruption of leaders and imprison those who have exploited Gujarat,” Kejriwal concluded.
