Kejriwal: BJP and Congress Have Let Gujarat Down
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jamnagar, March 26 (NationPress) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has recently condemned both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress for their governance failures in Gujarat, claiming that these parties have neglected critical public issues for over thirty years. During the 'Vijay Vishwas Sabha', AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal stated that both parties have fallen short of governance expectations, allowing persistent systemic problems such as corruption and inadequate infrastructure to thrive.
Kejriwal highlighted the widespread nature of corruption, asserting that public facilities like schools, hospitals, roads, and bridges have significantly deteriorated. He questioned the effectiveness of the opposition in holding the ruling party accountable.
“Corruption is rampant, and nothing gets accomplished without bribes,” he stated, raising concerns about the allocation of the state's annual budget.
Focusing on Gujarat's future, Kejriwal outlined four essential policy areas and encouraged supporters to spread the message throughout the villages.
He pointed to the positive changes in Punjab since AAP took office in 2022, mentioning, “In Punjab, we have provided farmers with daytime electricity and ensured that their crops are bought with same-day payments.”
Kejriwal asserted that farmers in Gujarat deserve similar benefits, including timely payments and daytime electricity.
He criticized Gujarat's public healthcare system as insufficient, contrasting it with Punjab's health insurance scheme, which offers coverage up to Rs 10 lakh per family, facilitating treatment in private hospitals.
“If treatment is free for chief ministers and ministers, it should equally apply to farmers, laborers, and traders,” he insisted.
On the topic of electricity, Kejriwal emphasized that Punjab households receive free power, highlighting the stark contrast with what he described as exorbitant tariffs in Gujarat.
Additionally, he mentioned a newly announced Punjab initiative to provide Rs 1,000 monthly to women, suggesting that similar programs could be implemented in Gujarat if AAP is elected.
“For a system like Punjab, oust the BJP and bring in AAP,” he declared.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann echoed these sentiments, accusing both BJP and Congress of failing to fulfill promises, including delivering Narmada water to farms.
Mann pointed out the significant increase in irrigation coverage in Punjab and stated, “We procure the entire crop from farmers and ensure payments are made by evening.”
He appealed to voters to support AAP candidates in the upcoming elections, saying: “When elections arrive, press the broom button; our leaders will handle the rest.”
State party president Isudan Gadhvi remarked that farmers are increasingly discouraging their children from pursuing agriculture due to current policies. He called for unity among farmers across various caste, religion, and community lines, stressing that issues like irrigation, pricing, and market access remain pressing concerns.
