Is Kejriwal Misleading the Public with 'Satyamev Jayate'?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Jan 22 (NationPress) The President of Delhi BJP, Virendra Sachdeva, stated on Thursday that former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is skilled in deceit and corruption. He once more attempted to mislead the public by responding with 'Satyamev Jayate' after a city court dismissed two Enforcement Directorate (ED) requests regarding his absence for questioning in the liquor scam.
By posting 'Satyamev Jayate' on social media platform X, Kejriwal aimed to imply that he has been cleared of any wrongdoing in the principal liquor scam case initiated by the ED. However, the court merely dismissed two summons from the ED, issued before his arrest, deeming them not maintainable.
Sachdeva remarked that 'Satyamev Jayate' represents integrity, and by using this phrase in a social media post, Kejriwal attempted to create the impression that he has received a clean slate in the main liquor scam.
He further asserted that by invoking these words after the dismissal of a complaint concerning his absence before the ED, Kejriwal has disrespected their profound significance.
The President of Delhi BJP pointed out that Kejriwal is the primary suspect in the liquor scam, and he cannot claim to be acquitted by merely emphasizing the dismissal of ED summons.
Sachdeva also declared that Kejriwal is a pivotal figure in the ongoing court trial of the liquor scam, and it is highly likely that he will be deemed guilty and imprisoned.
Delhi BJP Spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor also criticized the AAP National Convenor for posting 'Satyamev Jayate' on social media following the recent court developments.
Kapoor labeled Kejriwal's social media post a fresh falsehood, asserting that the people of Delhi and the nation should be aware that Kejriwal has not been acquitted in the ED's financial fraud case—proceedings in the case will persist.
He noted that Kejriwal had contested the two ED summons issued prior to his arrest, arguing that they were unwarranted.
"Today, the court merely found these two summons-related complaints to be not maintainable," he stated.
Kapoor explained that the law indicates that when an individual is arrested, imprisoned, and subsequently released on bail, any complaints filed against summons issued before the arrest become invalid.
"On this basis, the court today deemed the two complaints lodged by Kejriwal as not maintainable," Kapoor added.
Previously, a Delhi court had acquitted Kejriwal concerning two complaints filed by the ED seeking action against him for alleged non-compliance with the federal anti-money laundering agency's summons related to the Delhi excise policy case.
The judgment was issued by Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Paras Dalal of the Rouse Avenue Court.
