Gwalior, Aug 6 (NationPress) 'The Great Khali', a former WWE superstar and the team ambassador for the Pro Panja League’s Sher-e-Ludhiana, asserts that India’s ambition to host the 2036 Olympics hinges on grassroots development. He emphasizes that boosting the number of tournaments across various sports will foster a winner's mentality within the team.
In an exclusive interview with IANS, Khali addressed India’s potential to host the 2036 Olympics and expressed optimism about his PPL team’s chances of clinching the title in its second season.
When asked about enhancing India’s performance in the quadrennial event, Khali stated, “We need more competitions and tournaments at the grassroots level. The journey of hard work and practice must commence at an early age. Our vast pool of talent can flourish with increased competition, boosting their confidence and mental resilience. This approach will enable India to secure more medals and foster a winner's mentality,” Khali informed IANS.
Six teams, including Mumbai Muscle, Jaipur Veers, Kiraak Hyderabad, Sher-e-Ludhiana, Rohtak Rowdies, and MP Hathodas, will compete for the prestigious title as the league continues to expand in its reach, strength, and inclusiveness.
During the inaugural day's main-card events, Mumbai Muscle triumphed over the MP Hathodhas, while Kiraak Hyderabad narrowly defeated the Ludhiana-based franchise.
Despite the initial setback, Khali remains confident in his team’s capabilities to seize victory in the second edition.
“This is merely the beginning, yet I am hopeful for my team's success. We will maintain our optimism; this is just the start. Keep watching. You can see their strength just by observing their biceps—each one boasts an impressive 20 inches or more. I firmly believe Sher-e-Ludhiana will emerge victorious,” he added.
