New Delhi, March 15 (NationPress) The President of the Indian Olympic Association, P.T. Usha, asserts that India's aspiration to host significant multi-sport events, including the 2030 Commonwealth Games and the 2036 Summer Olympics, signifies the nation's escalating confidence in its sporting prospects.

During her address at the National Convention of the Sports Journalists Federation of India (SJFI) held in the capital, Usha emphasized that India is at a pivotal juncture in its sports evolution, marked by enhanced infrastructure, scientific training methodologies, and robust institutional backing for athletes.

“As you all know, we are set to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games, and our ambition to secure the 2036 Summer Olympics is a testament to the faith of a country that is optimistic about its sporting future,” Usha stated.

She highlighted that hosting such prestigious international events will significantly propel sports development across the nation. “These events will not only present India on a global stage but will also expedite the enhancement of sports infrastructure and motivate future generations of athletes,” she explained.

Usha further noted that the advancements in Indian sports have been fueled by improved support systems and increased acknowledgment of athletes' requirements. “Today, India finds itself at a crucial moment in its sports journey. Over the last decade, we have observed a remarkable shift in how sports are nurtured and celebrated in our country. Athletes now enjoy superior infrastructure, scientific training, and stronger institutional support,” she remarked.

Emphasizing the government’s role in broadening the sporting landscape, Usha mentioned initiatives like Khelo India, which have been instrumental in identifying and fostering young talent nationwide.

“The vision of the Government of India and the encouragement from our Honorable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, have been pivotal in establishing a more robust sports ecosystem. Programs like Khelo India are integrating sports into schools and universities, allowing young talent from all corners of the country to flourish,” she added.

Usha stressed the importance of collaboration among various stakeholders, asserting that the future of Indian sports hinges on collective action. “This journey demands a unified effort. The government, sports federations, administrators, athletes, the corporate sector, and the media must collaborate effectively,” she urged.

Usha concluded by expressing confidence in India's expanding presence across diverse sports, which bolsters the belief that the nation can become a formidable force in the global sporting arena in the years ahead. “With the right framework and continued cooperation, I am certain that our country will emerge as a major player in global sports,” she stated.
