Khan Global Studies, the popular coaching institute in Patna run by Faisal Khan — widely known as 'Khan Sir' — has been served a formal notice after a fire safety inspection revealed multiple critical violations, including the absence of emergency exits and inadequate firefighting equipment. The audit, conducted by the Bihar Fire Service this past weekend, found the institute non-compliant on several mandatory safety parameters.

Key Violations Found

The fire safety audit team identified serious deficiencies at the Khan Global Studies centre. These included only a single staircase, no emergency exits, a lack of firefighting equipment, and broad non-compliance with prescribed fire safety norms. Given that a large number of students visit the institute daily, officials underscored that ensuring their safety is of paramount importance.

A Repeat Offender Under Scrutiny

Ritesh Kumar Pandey, Commandant of the Bihar Fire Service, confirmed that the institute had also been inspected in May, during which several deficiencies were identified. However, progress in addressing those earlier concerns was found to be unsatisfactory, prompting the department to adopt a stricter stance this time. The institute has now been directed to complete all necessary rectifications within seven to ten days. Failure to comply within the stipulated timeframe may invite further regulatory action, officials warned.

Inspections Triggered by Muzaffarpur Hospital Fire

The crackdown on fire safety follows a deadly blaze at a private hospital in Muzaffarpur, in which seven people lost their lives. In the aftermath, the Bihar Fire Service launched a sweeping audit of multiple installations across the state — including coaching institutes, commercial establishments, and private hospitals in Patna — all of which are frequented by large numbers of the public. Serious safety lapses were reportedly discovered at several of these facilities as well.

Institute Already in the Spotlight

Khan Global Studies had already been under public scrutiny following separate incidents of firing at the institute in recent weeks. The fresh fire safety violations add to the mounting pressure on the management to address systemic safety concerns. This is the second inspection in as many months, signalling an escalating regulatory focus on the centre.

With the deadline for rectification set at seven to ten days, all eyes are now on whether the institute's management will bring the facility up to mandatory safety standards — or face more stringent action from the Bihar Fire Service.
