Chennai, Oct 11 (NationPress) Kannada superstar Kichcha Sudeep has officially dismissed the speculations circulating on social media suggesting that he was a prime candidate to portray the antagonist in director Vetrimaran's forthcoming Tamil film 'Arasan', which features Simbu in the leading role.
In a light-hearted manner, Kichcha Sudeep responded to a post on X that asserted he and Upendra were the top choices for the villain role in Simbu's project helmed by Vetrimaran.
The actor gently refuted the claims, urging the poster to verify their sources.
On a related note, reliable industry insiders reveal that the producers of 'Arasan' are contemplating casting actress Samantha or Keerthy Suresh for the female lead.
IANS has learned that discussions are currently underway with Samantha for this role.
Recently, the title of the film was officially revealed as 'Arasan'.
Producer Kalaipuli S Thanu, whose V Creations is behind the film, announced the title on his X timeline.
He wrote in Tamil, "Aalapirandha Arasan, Vetriyudan Silambarasan. #VetriMaaran @SilambarasanTR_ #STR49 #SilambarasanTR #VCreations47 #ARASAN. (The king born to rule! Victorious Silambarasan!)."
The announcement of the film's title has quelled any rumors about it being canceled.
Previously, IANS reported that the film was assuredly progressing and had not been shelved, contrary to some rumors suggesting financial issues.
The gossip started after reports of financial setbacks and external pressures to abandon the project surfaced. Nevertheless, sources informed IANS that the filming would indeed take place and that Silambarasan TR opted for a profit-sharing model rather than upfront payment.
Vetrimaran's film with Simbu will also feature Andrea Jeremiah, Samuthirakani, and Kishore in significant roles.
It's worth noting that director Vetrimaran recently addressed the speculation around the sequel to his much-anticipated film 'Vada Chennai'. He clarified that while his next film will star Simbu, it will not be 'Vada Chennai 2' as many had assumed. However, he mentioned that the story will be set in the same universe as 'Vada Chennai'.
In an interview on his YouTube channel months ago, Vetrimaran provided insights about 'Arasan', stating, "My next film is produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu and will star Simbu in the lead role."
Dismissing the rumors that this film was 'Vada Chennai 2', Vetrimaran stated, "There is considerable speculation that this will be 'Vada Chennai 2'. I want to clarify that this is not 'Vada Chennai 2'. What Dhanush acts in will be 'Vada Chennai 2'. However, this story will also be situated in the world of 'Vada Chennai', meaning certain elements from that universe will be present. The timeline will also be similar."
