Los Angeles, Sep 27 (NationPress) Hollywood icon Leonardo DiCaprio revealed that he receives comments from young children expressing their admiration for his film ‘Wolf of Wall Street’, a fact that leaves him somewhat uneasy.
As the Oscar-winning actor approaches his fourth decade in the film industry, he discussed with Variety.com and his co-star Benicio del Toro which of their works resonate with younger viewers.
DiCaprio noted that one film in particular seems to strike a chord with pre-teens.
“We’ve likely both featured in numerous R-rated films, so it really depends on the age group,” he explained. “Some little kids approach me and say, ‘I loved Wolf of Wall Street.’ I’m like, you saw that? How old are you?”
Launched in 2013 and helmed by frequent collaborator Martin Scorsese, ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ stands out as one of the most extravagant films in DiCaprio's repertoire.
Based on the true-life saga of disgraced stockbroker Jordan Belfort, the film is set against a backdrop of a cocaine-fueled 1980s, where corruption and deceit were rampant in finance, as reported by variety.com.
The film introduced audiences to Margot Robbie, grossed more than $400 million globally, and received five Academy Award nominations.
While DiCaprio may not have a simplified way to discuss topics like federal indictments and drug use with young fans, he mentioned, “I watched a lot of R-rated movies when I was young.”
In the coming days, young audiences will experience ‘One Battle After Another’, a groundbreaking epic by Paul Thomas Anderson, set to premiere in theaters this Friday.
The Academy Award winner recently acknowledged the growing significance of streaming services but believes that the box office will always remain a vital component of the film industry.
“There’s an overwhelming amount of content being produced nowadays — which is positive. However, I think the box office is important because it indicates that people are filling the seats for that shared experience,” he shared with variety.com.
