Hyderabad, Jan 15 (NationPress) Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy shared a post from singer Mittapally Surender highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's gesture of holding the hands of a Dappu player from the Dalit community. During the Sankranti celebrations at Kishan Reddy's residence in New Delhi on January 13, Modi held the Dappu artist's hand and touched it with his forehead. Reddy described Surender's post as deeply moving.
"This post from my brother Mittapally Surender is genuinely touching. It illustrates Modi ji's true nature while revealing the hypocrisy of some political figures," Kishan Reddy expressed on 'X'.
The Union Minister, who also leads the BJP's Telangana unit, shared a translation of Surender's original Telugu post.
"Here’s the accurate translation: What a magnificent sight this is! I’m not merely saying this because PM Modi touched these hands with his forehead. I challenge those leaders who have treated these individuals as untouchables, forcing them to live on the fringes of villages for generations, yet they would stand before their huts, asking for their Dappu during their Padayatras and victory parades. Did you (the leaders) ever perceive them as human beings? Reflect upon this," the post stated.
“This scene (depicting Modi ji with the Dappu artist's hands on his forehead) has truly touched my heart,” the singer commented, also extending an invitation for the Prime Minister to visit Telangana.
“Modi Ji, please come to Telangana; we will transform our hearts into Dappulu and play them for you,” Mittapally Surender remarked.
Kishan Reddy concluded his post with a note about the Dappu.
"Dappu is a traditional musical instrument typically played by individuals from the SC community in Telangana."
Notable attendees at the Sankranti event at Kishan Reddy’s home included Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Telugu cinema icon Chiranjeevi, ace badminton player P. V. Sindhu, and various union ministers.
