Kolkata, Nov 18 (NationPress) A significant reorganization occurred within the Kolkata Police on Tuesday, as the city police headquarters moved to reassign 21 officers holding the rank of Inspector, just prior to the Bengal Assembly elections.
On that day, various officers-in-charge (OC) of police stations were reassigned. Although senior officials described this as a standard transfer, the movement of such a considerable number of officers takes on added importance, especially with the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of West Bengal's electoral rolls currently taking place.
With the Assembly elections looming just five months away, this reshuffle in the Kolkata Police is indeed a noteworthy development.
Among those reassigned, Bireshwar Roy, the Additional OC of Maniktala Police Station, now takes over as the OC of Taltala Police Station.
Manish Majumdar, previously the Additional OC of Sinthee Police Station, has been appointed as the OC of Ultadanga Police Station. Rajib Chatterjee, who served as the Additional OC of Tollygunge Police Station, remains in his position as the OC of Tollygunge Police Station.
Bipul Biswas, the Additional OC of Bansdroni Police Station, will now serve as the OC of Tangra Police Station. Ashish Basu, formerly the Additional OC of Muchipara Police Station, has been designated the OC of North Port Police Station.
