Ahmedabad, Dec 26 (NationPress) The All India Convention of Kreeda Bharati began in Ahmedabad on Friday, graced by the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. During the inauguration, the Chief Minister emphasized that sports have been a core aspect of India’s cultural fabric and lifestyle since ancient times. He highlighted the pivotal role of Kreeda Bharati in safeguarding traditional sports while promoting nation-building through physical fitness and character enhancement.
CM Patel remarked that the timing of the convention in Ahmedabad aligns with a significant period for the nation as India prepares to host major international sporting events under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He noted that Ahmedabad’s rising profile as a sports hub showcases the government’s enduring commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure and developing talent.
Pointing to the Prime Minister’s focus on comprehensive development, the Chief Minister stated that sports hold a crucial position in this vision. He reminisced about the launch of the Khel Mahakumbh in Gujarat in 2010, which has significantly contributed to promoting sports culture at the grassroots level. Participation has surged from 1.6 million in 2010 to over 7.2 million expected in its 2025 edition.
According to the Chief Minister, the triumph of the Khel Mahakumbh has enabled 16 outstanding athletes from Gujarat to represent both the state and the nation on national and international platforms.
Drawing insights from ancient Indian texts, Patel asserted that sports and physical training were integral to Indian civilization. He referenced traditional games, physical education, and competitive training in scriptures like the Vedas, portraying sports as a manifestation of India’s cultural identity.
In welcoming athletes, coaches, and volunteers nationwide, the Chief Minister expressed that Kreeda Bharati not only cultivates athletes but also fosters disciplined, patriotic, and responsible citizens.
He also mentioned that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and the mentorship of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the Gujarat government is dedicated to hosting five world-class sporting events in the upcoming years as part of India’s Olympic ambitions, including preparations for the 2036 Olympics. On this occasion, the Chief Minister unveiled the commemorative book Kreeda Jyot.
The three-day convention is being held at Kalki Tirthdham, Preranpeeth, and has attracted significant participation from Kreeda Bharati members nationwide.
Gujarat unit president Vivek Patel delivered the welcome address, while All India General Secretary Rajji Chaudhary briefed delegates on the organization’s activities. Kreeda Bharati All India President Gopalji Saini, Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Minister and Working President Chaitanya Kashyap, along with senior office-bearers and representatives from various states, were also present at the inaugural session.
