Bengaluru, Sep 22 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP marked the occasion of GST reforms and the rollout of the new GST 2.0 system by the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with celebrations that included the bursting of firecrackers and the distribution of sweets across Bengaluru and various regions of the state on Monday.
Party officials and supporters expressed their enthusiasm with jubilations at the BJP state headquarters, Jagannath Bhavan in Bengaluru, where they celebrated with firecrackers and shared sweets.
Chants of praise were directed towards PM Modi for the simplification of GST and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Following this, sweets were also given out at local shops in Malleswaram.
Key figures present included the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, Opposition Chief Whip N. Ravikumar, former Union Minister A. Narayanaswamy, BJP State Vice President N. Mahesh, Bengaluru North District President S. Harish, former National General Secretary of SC Morcha Chi. Na. Ramu, State Spokespersons M.G. Mahesh and H. Venkatesh Dodderi, Mohan Vishwa, State Media Convenor Karunakar Khasale, Co-Convenor Prashanth Kedenji, among several dedicated party workers.
BJP State President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra commemorated the introduction of the simplified GST 2.0 system by distributing sweets at shops and markets in Shivamogga on Monday.
During his speech, he described the two-slab GST system as a Diwali gift to the people. "The BJP extends its congratulations to PM Modi and Finance Minister Sitharaman for this achievement," he remarked, adding that the festivities were a way to show appreciation to the Union government on behalf of the populace.
Vijayendra highlighted that while US President Trump raised tariffs on multiple nations, PM Modi conveyed that India will neither bend nor succumb to external pressures during challenging times.
He criticized the Congress party for previously winning elections with the slogan of ‘Garibi Hatao' (Eradicate Poverty) yet failing to alleviate poverty in the nation. He emphasized that India must pursue self-reliance and progress towards becoming a prosperous country, focusing on indigenous products.
Furthermore, he stated that all challenges must be tackled with comprehensive strategies and that India should aim to evolve into a developed country by 2047.
Legislative Council members D.S. Arun and Dr. Dhananjay Sarji, Shivamogga District President N.K. Jagadish, City Mandal President Mohan Reddy, along with numerous party workers were also in attendance.
