Bengaluru, Feb 1 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP has expressed its appreciation for the Union Budget 2025-26, unveiled by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, stating that it has brought happiness to the citizens of the nation.

Speaking to the press at the party's headquarters in Bengaluru, the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, emphasized that a substantial allocation of Rs 20,000 crore has been designated for Scheduled Caste entrepreneurs looking to establish industries and startups.

He further noted that approximately 6,000 new seats have been introduced in prestigious educational institutions for students. In addition, 10,000 medical seats have been increased, reflecting a strong focus on this area.

"With Anganwadi workers protesting daily, it is crucial to prioritize the provision of nutritious food for these women. Furthermore, the increase in elite education and medical seats demonstrates significant attention to these sectors," Narayanaswamy stated.

"Notably, for the middle class and salaried individuals, previously there was no tax for annual incomes up to Rs 7 lakh. The announcement of no tax for incomes up to Rs 12 lakh was unexpected. This relief extends to journalists and middle-class earners at Rs 1 lakh monthly," he remarked.

"For those with an annual income of Rs 18 lakh, a tax concession of Rs 70,000 is granted. Those earning Rs 20 lakh will receive a concession of Rs 1.20 lakh. For incomes above Rs 25 lakh, a 30 percent tax rate applies. This reflects a balanced approach for the Backward Classes, middle class, and Scheduled Castes, laying the groundwork for Atmanirbhar Bharat," he added.

"This initiative will aid the nation in becoming the fourth-largest economy and ultimately a developed country. The government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is committed to this vision. Union Minister Sitharaman has delivered a budget that is favorable to all," he asserted.

When queried about the budget allocations for Karnataka, he mentioned he had not received complete details yet but would communicate with the media once all information was available.

"Cancer centers will be established in all districts, functioning as day-care facilities. Such services have been lacking until now. This development will significantly benefit individuals and families impacted by cancer. The demand can still be raised even after the budget presentation," he stated.

BJP State Mahila Morcha President Manjula remarked, "Prime Minister Modi Ji indicated that the forthcoming budget would bring 'Mahalaxmi Krupa' to the middle class and underprivileged. It is commendable that Union Minister Sitharaman, as a woman, has presented the budget eight times. Prime Minister Modi has empowered her for this role. The tax exemption up to Rs 12 lakh will significantly support working women, and we express our gratitude to her for this measure."
