Bengaluru, June 20 (NationPress) Karnataka BJP President and MLA, B.Y. Vijayendra, stated on Friday that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has urged the state BJP leadership to escalate their efforts against the 'corrupt' Congress-led administration in Karnataka.
During a media interaction in Bengaluru, Vijayendra mentioned that he, along with former Chief Minister and BJP MP Basavaraj Bommai, Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka, and senior leader Aravind Bellad, had a meeting with Home Minister Shah earlier that morning.
"We deliberated on the political dynamics in the state and ongoing developments," he added.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Bengaluru on Thursday night.
BJP leader Vijayendra also condemned the Congress administration for implementing policies aimed at favoring minorities.
"Just yesterday, the government increased the reservation for minorities under the Housing Department from 10 to 15 percent," he stated.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi is dedicated to providing justice to all -- Hindus and minorities included -- based on the principle of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas'. The PM's Kisan Samman scheme supports farmers across all communities by offering Rs 6,000 annually. It is not exclusive to Hindus alone," Vijayendra emphasized.
"Similarly, the 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' initiative is not limited to Hindu girls. However, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is engaging in divisive politics. While the BJP fights for justice, the Chief Minister's actions are a disgrace to his office," he alleged.
He criticized Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for running a 'Tughlaq Darbar', having neglected his duty to serve the public.
"In the upcoming days, the citizens of Karnataka will respond to the government appropriately," he concluded.
In response to a question, Vijayendra confirmed that discussions would take place with Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and other JD-S MLAs prior to the Legislature session for improved coordination.
When asked about the viral audio clip of Congress MLA B.R. Patil alleging that bribes are being accepted for housing allocations in the state, the BJP leader remarked, "Since the Congress assumed power, they have transformed the government into an ATM for their high command. They used to accuse the previous BJP administration of 40 percent corruption. Today, if you question ordinary citizens or businesspeople, they openly discuss 100 percent corruption. Even ruling party MLAs have exposed this."
He claimed that no work is accomplished in any state department without bribery and accused even the Chief Minister of being complicit in corruption.
"The audio clip by Congress MLA B.R. Patil is merely a small indication. The public is weary of this (Congress) government," Vijayendra asserted.
When queried about the harassment by microfinance agents in the Chief Minister's own constituency, the BJP leader recalled that CM Siddaramaiah previously promised legislation to tackle such problems.
"He made grand speeches back then. If this is the situation in the Chief Minister's constituency, what must the rest of the state be enduring?" he questioned.
He noted that the issue had been raised in the Assembly, yet no tangible actions have been taken.
"This (Congress) government is not taking anything seriously," he stated, criticizing the Congress-led administration.
Vijayendra also ridiculed the Congress government's response to the recent stampede at the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's victory celebration on June 4, which resulted in 11 fatalities, saying that the state government is only now discussing new laws post-disaster.
He concluded by asserting that the state administration has lost its focus on development and is instead embroiled in corruption, which is inflicting significant hardship on the people of Karnataka.
In response to another inquiry, he indicated that the BJP is working to resolve minor internal conflicts within the party.
