Bengaluru, Dec 26 (NationPress) The President of the Karnataka unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), B.Y. Vijayendra, forecasted midterm elections in the state on Friday, citing ongoing discord within the Congress party. He confidently claimed that the BJP would achieve a clear majority whenever the elections are conducted.
These comments were made following his floral tribute during the Veer Balak Diwas event at the BJP's state office, Jagannath Bhavan, in Bengaluru.
“Whether the Assembly elections take place in 2028 or sooner, I firmly believe that the BJP will secure between 130 to 140 seats and form the government independently,” he declared.
Vijayendra further expressed that due to the internal chaos within the ruling Congress, elections could be imminent. “Each day, the number of individuals aspiring for the Chief Minister role is on the rise,” he noted.
“When elections are called, BJP members must pledge to restore the party to power,” he emphasized.
Discussing the recent town panchayat elections, Vijayendra highlighted the BJP's success that exceeded expectations.
The party achieved a majority in several town panchayats, including Bajpe and Kinnigoli in Mangaluru district, Manki in Karwar district, and Bashettihalli. He congratulated the winners from the Bashettihalli Town Panchayat in Doddaballapur taluk of Bengaluru Rural district.
He mentioned that although the Congress often portrays the BJP as a party of forward communities, the BJP has made strides to ensure justice for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and backward communities, evident during the tenures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa.
While congratulating the town panchayat election victors, he encouraged those who did not win not to be disheartened.
Vijayendra praised Prime Minister Modi's humble beginnings, stating that he started as a booth-level worker and has led the country for over 11 years. He expressed pride in being a BJP worker under such leadership.
He criticized Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's administration, asserting that public dissatisfaction was reflected in the town panchayat election outcomes.
“No one seems satisfied with the Congress-led government,” Vijayendra remarked, claiming that the party swiftly “removed its mask” after assuming power.
He argued that while Modi initiated the Kisan Samman scheme providing Rs 6,000, and Yediyurappa offered Rs 4,000, the Congress government has obstructed these benefits.
Vijayendra also condemned the Congress-led government for abolishing the ‘Vidya Nidhi’ scheme established by former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai for farmers' children. He accused ministers of neglecting areas affected by heavy rainfall in North Karnataka.
The program on Friday was dedicated to honoring the sacrifices of the Veer Balaks.
Remembering historical episodes, Vijayendra recounted the bravery of young children who refused to convert despite intense pressure. PM Modi has worked to raise awareness of such sacrifices at the national level, he stated.
In response to Vijayendra’s midterm election claims, H.C. Mahadevappa, Minister for Social Welfare, dismissed the idea as unrealistic, asserting that both the party and government remain stable and robust.
Priyank Kharge, Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, reiterated that the Congress had a five-year mandate from the public and would complete its term, deeming BJP leaders' statements insignificant.
