Mysuru (Karnataka), Nov 11 (NationPress) Addressing queries about why incidents like the Delhi blast happen during elections, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah asserted that the Central government must clarify the reasons behind such occurrences during polls.

He spoke to the press after leading the Karnataka Development Programme (KDP) meeting in his hometown of Mysuru on Tuesday.

When questioned about the timing of bomb blasts coinciding with elections, particularly referencing the recent Delhi incident and its potential influence on the Bihar elections, the CM remarked: “The Centre must provide answers regarding why these blasts occur during elections. It is essential for the central government to investigate and respond. Such events are tragic, and the loss of innocent lives is profoundly regrettable.”

In response to whether India is evolving into a nation dominated by a single religion, CM Siddaramaiah stated, “India is a constitutionally pluralistic nation, not a single-religion country.”

Notably, the explosion occurred at a traffic signal outside Gate No. 1 of Red Fort Metro Station, creating alarm in the vibrant Old Delhi area, igniting several vehicles and shattering windows in proximity.

Witnesses reported a thunderous blast that “felt like the Earth collapsing,” with thick black smoke rising from the debris.

Significantly, the J&K Police dismantled an inter-state terror module linked to Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind terror groups, recovering 2,900 kg of explosives, two assault rifles, pistols, timers, and additional materials in the Faridabad region of Haryana, close to New Delhi, with seven arrests made thus far.

This seizure closely followed the explosion at Red Fort, occurring just a day prior to the second phase of the Bihar Assembly elections.

Regarding his upcoming trip to Delhi, CM Siddaramaiah mentioned that he plans to travel to the capital on November 15 to participate in a program hosted by senior leader Kapil Sibal, potentially returning the same day. “If the high command allows, I will meet with them—however, no appointment has been set yet,” he stated.

He further commented, “Organized crimes cannot transpire without the awareness of police officials. Hence, if crime rates rise, the officers will be held accountable. I have mandated that Mysuru be declared a drug-free district.”

“In Mangaluru district, after just two officers were transferred following recent communal disturbances, the entire district has calmed down. If two officers can effect such change, the same can be replicated elsewhere. Police officers should act with professionalism and dedication,” he added.

The CM also directed district commissioners, assistant commissioners, and tahsildars to expedite the resolution of pending legal matters in their jurisdictions. “Out of 8,000 pending cases in Mysuru district over the past two years, approximately 7,540 have been resolved. The remaining cases must be cleared promptly,” he expressed.

In summarizing the meeting, CM Siddaramaiah stated, “Taluk-level officials must remain present at their headquarters. I have instructed the Deputy Commissioner to report any violations of this rule. Directions have been issued to police officers, commissioners, and IGPs to enhance conviction rates.”

“Police personnel must personally visit and inspect crime scenes. Except for criminals, real estate mafias, and rowdies, police should treat the general populace with respect,” he emphasized.

“Discussions regarding Greater Mysuru have commenced. After thorough deliberations, the proposal will be forwarded to the Cabinet,” he noted.

CM Siddaramaiah warned officials that he would not tolerate citizens being forced to run from office to office, deeming this behavior unacceptable. Officers are expected to remain in their taluks, address public grievances, and resolve them efficiently. District Commissioners have been directed to report non-compliance,” he stressed.

He expressed alarm over the decline in Mysuru district’s education index, which has dropped from 7th to 14th position, labeling it unacceptable. Mysuru is the native land of CM Siddaramaiah.

“Development in Mysuru must accelerate. Despite previous directives, progress has been slower than desired,” he added.

“Both the state and Mysuru district have experienced favorable rainfall this year. There are no issues concerning agricultural activities or drinking water. Tamil Nadu has received more water than necessary,” he concluded.
