Kolkata, Nov 15 (NationPress) A heated political debate has erupted in West Bengal following a provocative statement made by Kalyan Banerjee, a senior advocate of the Calcutta High Court and four-term Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha member. He linked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the deadly car explosion that occurred in New Delhi earlier this week, which resulted in the loss of 12 lives.
During a press interaction, Banerjee asserted that the blast was orchestrated intentionally just one day prior to the second phase of the Bihar Assembly elections, aiming to generate a sympathy wave for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The unfortunate explosion took place near the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi on the evening of November 10, coinciding with the second phase of the Bihar polls on November 11.
Following the announcement of the Bihar Assembly election results, in which the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) achieved a decisive victory, the Prime Minister claimed that the outcomes have set the stage for the BJP's success in the upcoming 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections.
"I assure the people of West Bengal that the 'Jungle Raj' will come to an end in 2026," said the Prime Minister on Friday.
In response to the Prime Minister's remarks about the 2026 elections, Kalyan Banerjee reiterated his claim that the Delhi car explosion was a premeditated act to sway public sentiment in favor of the BJP, holding the Prime Minister accountable for this alleged conspiracy.
"The Prime Minister has undermined the democratic environment in India. Countless individuals are perishing across the nation. He won by orchestrating the bomb incident near the Red Fort Metro station the night before the Bihar elections. The 'jungle raj' has been instituted in the country under his leadership. When he served as Chief Minister in Gujarat, he was responsible for the deaths of many. He has imposed 'jungle raj' in Madhya Pradesh and Delhi. In contrast, the people of West Bengal find peace. The electorate of West Bengal responded decisively to the BJP in 2021 and will do so again in 2026," Banerjee emphasized.
In a rebuttal, BJP's state General Secretary, Jagannath Chattopadhyay, remarked that there is a rivalry between Kalyan Banerjee and a Trinamool Congress spokesperson over who can insult the Prime Minister more effectively.
"The more slurs they throw, the more the BJP’s popularity will soar in West Bengal. Our Prime Minister holds a special place in the hearts of the common people," Chattopadhyay added.
