The incident has been taken with utmost seriousness by the State Government. I have directed the Director General of Police to maintain high alert across all district headquarters, including our capital, Bengaluru. The Home Department has been tasked with enhancing security in crowded public areas and prioritizing the safety of our citizens," he added.
Preventive steps are currently being implemented to avert any potential incidents within the state. I urge the public to cooperate with the police in these efforts, CM Siddaramaiah stated.
Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, H. D. Kumaraswamy, expressed, "I am deeply saddened by the blast in Delhi this evening that has led to tragic losses and injuries. My sincere condolences go to the families affected, and I pray for a swift recovery for those injured."
BJP State President and MLA B. Y. Vijayendra conveyed, "I am profoundly pained by the tragic blast near the Red Fort in Delhi that has resulted in several fatalities. My heartfelt condolences to the grieving families during this challenging period. I am praying for the quick and full recovery of the injured."
The explosion, which occurred at a traffic signal outside Gate No. 1 of Lal Qila Metro Station, sent shockwaves through the crowded Old Delhi area, igniting multiple vehicles and shattering nearby windows.
Witnesses recounted a deafening explosion that "felt like the earth caving in," with thick black smoke rising from the debris.
Importantly, earlier in the day, the J&K Police dismantled an inter-state transnational terror network associated with Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind terror groups, recovering 2,900 kg of explosives, assault rifles, pistols, timers, and other materials in the Faridabad area of Haryana, close to New Delhi. The police reported that seven arrests have been made thus far.
This significant seizure, occurring just before the explosion at the Red Fort, takes place one day prior to the second phase of the Bihar assembly elections.
