Bengaluru, June 9 (NationPress) Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara declared on Monday that he is prepared to confront any scenario and will not flee 'like a coward'.

In response to speculation regarding the demand for altering his portfolio following the tragic stampede that resulted in 11 fatalities on June 4, he remarked, "We must confront the situation and should not escape like cowards."

"At this moment, we have expressed that the Bengaluru stampede incident is regrettable and should never have occurred. Such events need to be avoided. We feel deep sorrow. These are obstacles we must address. One cannot evade this like a coward," he continued.

When questioned about his communication with the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, regarding this issue, he labeled it as "far from the truth".

He added, "The media has previously reported that I was summoned to Delhi. I appreciate that. The high command has inquired about the events, and we have shared information over the phone. The high command has not summoned me to Delhi or Mumbai."

"The National General Secretaries will reach out to us; they will be concerned about what is unfolding here. They will inquire with the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and us," he noted.

Responding to the rumors, he stated, "I am unsure what to say. Who informed you about this? What is the source? You could verify with me instead of defaming me and then approaching me. Please exercise restraint. I have treated the media well for the past 30 years. It is inappropriate for the media to attack an individual and cast doubts on their character. It won't uphold dignity."

He further remarked, "I do not discuss politics with my wife, yet the media alleges that I have talked about changing my portfolio with friends, and that I have met the Chief Minister regarding this matter, which the CM denied. I ask you not to publish such news about me. What will my voters and supporters think?"

"I have never requested any specific portfolio from the Chief Minister. I am clarifying. I have not demanded anything, and no discussions have taken place. This is untrue," Parameshwara asserted.

Regarding the negligence of police warnings during the stampede incident, he stated, "I will not comment. We have entrusted the investigation to the One-Man Justice Commission. Until the investigation concludes, making statements in the media could render them sub judice. I will refrain from commenting on that."

Concerning the number of police assigned to Chinnaswamy Stadium, he confirmed that all details would be forwarded to the investigative agencies, which will ultimately uncover the truth.

"I will not comment on whether I was excluded from organizing victory celebrations. If I say anything now, it may alter the course of the investigation," he maintained.
