Kutch's 'Road to Infinity' Nears Completion, Transforming Connectivity
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Kutch, March 22 (NationPress) The Khadir Bet area in Gujarat is experiencing a significant transformation in road connectivity and transportation.
The 22-kilometre stretch is nearing completion and is on track to be opened for public use shortly. This route will traverse the stunning white desert and the coastline, linking Ekal to Bambhanka.
Inspired by Kutch’s 'Road to Heaven' and constructed at an investment of Rs 140 crore, this 'Road to Infinity' is set to benefit more than 12,000 residents from 12 villages in the Khadir Bet region, marking the dawn of a new developmental phase.
Previously, locals had to travel over 150 kilometres to access the Bhachau Taluka headquarters, but this journey will now be significantly shortened to only 75 to 80 kilometres.
Many community members are expressing their joy and satisfaction with this advancement.
A local resident, Hardeep Singh Jadeja, remarked, "This Khadir area comprises 11 villages. Earlier, one had to cover 180 kilometres to reach Rapar or Bhachau. Thanks to this road, the distance has been decreased to just 70 kilometres, leading to substantial time and fuel savings during commutes."
Along this route lies Kutch’s historic Hanuman Bet, which resembles a tortoise, and houses the ancient Raneshwar Hanuman Temple.
Additionally, this road runs close to Asia’s largest flamingo breeding ground, known as 'Flamingo City.'
This development will not only ease the journey for devotees traveling to the Raneshwar Hanuman Temple but will also allow tourists to witness the impressive flocks of migratory flamingos that visit the area every winter.
Mahant Yogi Devnath of the Raneshwar Hanuman Temple noted that the Ekal-Bambhanka road's construction will significantly enhance tourism and promote the overall growth of the Khadir Bet area. Furthermore, it will facilitate faster access for the Army to the border.
Tourist Anees Sheikh shared his excitement about the migratory birds, stating, "We specifically come here to see them. Earlier, we had to travel 300 kilometres to reach this location; now it’s only 150 kilometres away."
The 'Road to Infinity' is set to not only boost the socio-economic development of the Khadir Bet residents but also offer tourists an alternative route to the archaeological site of Dholavira.
According to Iqbal Topiwala, Executive Engineer of the Bhuj District Panchayat, locals from Khadir Bet and neighboring areas often need to travel to Bhachau Taluka for work.
"While the 'Road to Heaven' was already in place, the addition of the 'Road to Infinity' will provide even easier access for visitors heading to the Dholavira archaeological site in Khadir Bet," he stated.
The 'Road to Infinity' is expected to be a game changer for the people of Khadir Bet, fulfilling a long-standing demand that has persisted for over fifty years.
