New Delhi, Sep 4 (NationPress) Bangladesh's T20I captain Litton Kumar Das expressed confidence in his team's readiness for the upcoming Asia Cup, set to kick off in the UAE on September 9, following their impressive 2-0 T20I series triumph against the Netherlands.
This victory marks Bangladesh's third consecutive T20I series win, having previously secured victories against Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Prior to facing the Netherlands, the team conducted a fitness camp in Dhaka, followed by a skill-focused camp in Sylhet.
"I firmly believe that we are well-prepared for the Asia Cup. I mentioned from the outset that our camp was not solely aimed at this series; it was also intended to ensure we are primed for the upcoming tournament," Litton stated.
He added, "Overall, I felt positive about our performance. Those who had the opportunity to play delivered commendable results. Only Saifuddin faced difficulties, but everyone else was able to participate in at least one match."
"While practice is essential, what truly matters is how effectively you can perform during matches. Gaining match experience enhances your skills and game sense," Litton remarked, as reported by Cricbuzz on Thursday.
Litton also highlighted the quality of their training in Sylhet, saying, "I've never experienced such an excellent camp. While fitness training could be done in Mirpur, the specific practice we aimed for was only feasible in Sylhet. Hence, I feel this journey has been tremendously beneficial for us."
Looking forward to the Asia Cup, he noted that the strong performance from the top order is promising. "Naturally, it would have been ideal for more batters to get a chance, but the crucial takeaway is our convincing victories in the first two matches. This bodes well as we head into a significant event."
“The fact that not all our batters needed to bat demonstrates the effectiveness of our top order. During the Asia Cup, there will be occasions when everyone will need to contribute, and that’s acceptable; however, it currently shows we are in a strong position,” he added.
Bangladesh is set to commence their 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup campaign against Hong Kong at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on September 11.
