Muktsar, Jan 14 (NationPress) As the countdown begins for the 2027 assembly elections, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Badal declared on Wednesday that his party is dedicated to rectifying historical wrongs, such as the diversion of Punjab's water to Rajasthan via the Rajasthan canal. During this announcement, he laid out electoral commitments, including providing free tubewell connections to all farmers who have been overlooked.
Badal also urged fellow leaders who aspire to protect Punjab to reunite with the party, emphasizing that those who departed due to dissatisfaction should return for the betterment of Punjab and its future.
Speaking at a party gathering attended by thousands at the Maghi Mela, the SAD leader honored the 40 Muktas who made the ultimate sacrifice for the community while expressing gratitude to party members and Punjabis for enduring harsh winter conditions to participate in the event.
He remarked that this year's turnout shattered previous records, noting, "I was even delayed by an hour due to traffic and had to walk four kilometers to reach the venue."
"This signifies a shift in public sentiment. Punjabis are ready to end the Aam Aadmi Party's rule and are eager to elect their own regional party to secure a brighter future for their descendants," he added.
In a powerful speech, Badal stated that if the people grant the SAD the mandate to govern Punjab, it would implement pro-farmer, pro-poor, and pro-youth initiatives while putting an end to gangsterism.
He assured that free tubewell connections would be provided to all farmers lacking access. Measures will be taken to ensure that canal water reaches the furthest fields, and all previously removed lift pumps will be reinstated. Additionally, strategies will be enacted to address waterlogging and allocate land rights to individuals cultivating land adjacent to riverbanks.
Furthermore, Badal announced that a free takseem process will distinguish individual land ownership, facilitating land registration within the 'Lal Dora' of villages.
