Mahakumbh 2025 Expected to Create Job Opportunities for Rural Women

Prayagraj, Dec 6 (NationPress) The Mahakumbh 2025 is set to be a major employment opportunity for rural women. A multitude of these women from self-help groups (SHGs) will be assigned stalls and shops at the Mahakumbh site to enhance their livelihoods.

These women will oversee cafeterias, canteens, and 'Shri Anna' counters.

This initiative, conceived by the State Livelihood Mission, places a strong emphasis on empowering rural women.

As stated by Deputy Commissioner NRLM, Rajeev Kumar Singh, the blueprint includes assigning rural women the task of managing five canteens across the fairgrounds.

"A proposal has been put forth to the Kumbh Mela Authority for the allocation of 10 shops per sector for these women, in addition to over 40 shops located in the Saras Haat section of the fair. This initiative is anticipated to generate both direct and indirect employment opportunities for more than 5,000 rural women," he mentioned.

He further noted that the products sold at these stalls and shops operated by rural women at the Mahakumbh will be designed to enhance the branding of Prayagraj Maha Kumbh.

According to Rajeev Kumar Singh, these stalls will showcase a diverse range of multipurpose items.

Considering the chilly weather during the Maha Kumbh, mufflers are being produced adorned with the Maha Kumbh logo. Additionally, 'selfie caps' are being created for the youth.

Neha Nishad from Eklavya Ajeevika Mahila Samuh stated: "The women in my group are crafting these items, all featuring the Kumbh logo. The Angavastram arranged in baskets for Prasad will also showcase the logo and slogan of Maha Kumbh."

The National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) plans to establish 'Shri Anna' counters at the event, offering nutritious products at five canteens and a cafeteria serving breakfast and lunch.

Moreover, over half a dozen counters selling Shri Anna products, sourced directly from Shri Anna-producing farmers, will be set up.

Chinta Devi, President of Nari Shakti Prerna Sankul Samiti, mentioned that various products made from barley, sorghum, millet, and desi jaggery will also be available at these stalls during the Mahakumbh.
